The name means Holy Door (also referred to as Marmor Jasense and Marmor Chium). The material used to come from the ancient quarry on the Greek Island of Chios. It got it's name as it was used in the manufacture of La Porta Santa at St. Pietro in Rome. Not to be confused with the Italian Marble of the same name, which we also have access to.
