MarbleAntique › Nero Grande Antico D'Italia

This part block (bearing an uncanny similarity to material used in the Vatican: base to statue of Alexander VII) was purchased under it's entitled name.  However, enquiries to date have not located a quarry within the current borders of Italy which could have produced it.

When slabbed the material was of the exact same colour and configuration as the coloured plate in Sig. R. Gnoli's (2nd Edition 1988) book "Marmora Romana" of Blanco & Nero.  So it's my guess that these slabs are also from the D'Albert quarry in France.

However, classic examples of this material are much more angular in their construction with geometric shards of Black & White set in stark contrast.
